Eternal Announces New Subsidiary Blinkit Foods

In a letter to shareholders, Eternal founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal said the company currently operates 38 Bistro kitchens across Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR.

Eternal Limited, the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit, has incorporated a new subsidiary by the name of Blinkit Foods. The newly formed division will be operated under the food services vertical. This is further be branded under the Bistro brand offering food delivery in the 10-minute time frame. The company disclosed the development in a stock exchange filing on Thursday.

In a letter to shareholders, Eternal founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal said the company currently operates 38 Bistro kitchens across Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR.

Early demand trends have been encouraging, he noted, with the kitchens generating incremental orders without cannibalising Zomato’s existing business.

Through Bistro, Eternal is targeting two distinct demand pockets: customers seeking affordable, high-quality home-style meals and those looking for quick, snacky options delivered within 10 minutes.

Goyal added that while customer traction has been strong, the company will need to refine its business model to achieve profitability. He said Eternal will continue making calibrated investments to build a scalable and profitable food services business, with further updates to be shared in due course.

In May 2025, Eternal had shut down its quick delivery format “Everyday” facing low demand.

The move was part of a broader strategic retraction by Eternal, which also included the closure of “Quick,” both flagged for failing to deliver long‑term profitability without compromising customer experience.

Now, with Bistro, they're bringing all quick food under one roof and cutting out restaurant partnerships for better control.

With Blinkit Foods, the competition seems heats up with other players including Swiggy's Bolt, now in 500 cities and Zepto, which has scaled back its own cafe service due to supply issues.
