Swedish home-furnishings giant IKEA is set to make its much-awaited offline debut in Delhi-NCR, with its first store in the region opening at Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden, on Wednesday, August 13.
The announcement was made by Ankit Ghai, Country Selling Manager/ Chief Business Officer Home Furnishings retail business at IKEA.
In a LinkedIn post, he wrote, “The time has finally come, Dilli meri jaan! Mark your calendars! We're so excited to officially announce the opening of our first IKEA store at Pacific Mall Tagore Garden in saddi dilli on August 13th.”
Ghai also hinted that this Delhi outlet is just the beginning. “This is the first of many to come very, very soon,” he said. Sharing more he added that the team has worked hard to create “a special place where you can explore, dream, and find solutions to make your home your favourite place to be.”
The store promises the full IKEA experience, whether it’s refreshing a living room, organising a kitchen, or simply grabbing a bite at the in-store restaurant. Visitors can expect the brand’s signature offerings, from the iconic BILLY bookcase to Swedish meatballs and the brand’s popular hot dog.
“We can’t wait to welcome you into our home,” Ghai said, calling the opening day “a celebration of inspiration and affordable Swedish home-furnishing solutions.”
To build excitement, IKEA also released an “it’s happening” teaser video on Instagram, featuring some of Delhi’s most recognisable landmarks, including India Gate and Faqir Chand Bookstore.
The Delhi store marks an important milestone in IKEA’s India journey, which began in 2018 with its first large-format store in Hyderabad, followed by outlets in Navi Mumbai, Worli (Mumbai), and Bengaluru. The brand has steadily expanded its footprint with a combination of physical stores and online operations.
With the Pacific Mall launch, Delhiites will now get their own slice of the Swedish design and dining experience, right in the heart of the city.
